Dr Ritesh Arya is PhD in geology from Panjab University Chandigarh India with interest in hydrogeology, climate change and geothermal    energy in Himalaya  . He  has 20 years of experience working to find sustainable watersolution in Himalaya specially the high altitude cold mountain deserts of  Ladakh.                               In 1996 he left his govt job as a hydrogeologist to form his own groundwater development and drilling company                    Arya Drillers on NO WATER NO MONEY basis,thus providing accountability in the water sector

HH Dalai Lama - Sonamling Tibetan Settlement  Choglamsar 

Providing drinking water to Sonamling Tibetan Settlement of His Holiness Dalai Lama in high altitude cold mountain desert of Leh Ladakh J&K India was his first project funded by Water Aid. All the groundwater development structures in the form of Hand Pump drilled since 1997 in 12 camps are still working very effectively today and are giving 24 hours water 365 days to the residents who settled there after initial migration from Tibet in 1959 following Chinese aggression .   SIACHEN STORY                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  He has since then provided drinking water to the troops stationed in Leh, Kargil, Drass, Siachen glacier,Chushul etc in Leh Partapur Tangsay sector on borders of Pakistan and China. Dr Arya strongly feel that groundwater holds the key to usher GREEN REVOLUTION in the Himalayan region.

 

 REZANANG LA  -  1962 INDO – CHINA  WAR    ( 50 years of Indo-China War)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Rezang La  is 3,000 yards long and 2,000 yards wide, with an average height of 16,000 feet. in Changthang area about 50 kms from Chushul in Ladakh Himalaya.It was a battlefront between India and China in 1962. Soldiers of Kumaon Regiment bravely fought with minimum resources under the guidance of Major Shaitan Singh. 114 soldiers sacrificed their lives in a battle protecting the borders.                                                                                                                                                                                                      In 2012 Dr Ritesh Arya and his team  explored and developed groundwater at  Rezang La (for Indian troops) in memory of solders who sacrificed their lives protecting the borders .   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SoS2WRFirFI

He augmented the 100 year old water supply scheme for Kasauli cantonment and initiated privatisation of water supply scheme first of its kind in India by entering into agreement of supplying drinking water to Lawrence school of Sanawar  earlier they were buying water from Water tankers at exorbitantly higher prices.
